In 2018, Jeff and Beth Pfister met Pastor Icene and Schera Etienne, brothers from Cerca Carvajal, Haiti, at their local church in the United States. The two brothers were on a fundraising visit to benefit Christian Hope Church and School in their rural Haitian community. There was an instant, Spirit-led connection between the Pfisters and the Etiennes. After learning more about Christian Hope Church and School as well as cultural norms, historical and current challenges in Haiti, the Pfisters committed to support the ministry. In 2022, the Pfisters hosted Pastor Icene Etienne and his wife, Luctamise, in their home for a month during another fundraising visit. This visit only deepened their friendship as well as the Pfister’s commitment to support Christian Hope School. Since their initial meeting in 2018, the Pfisters, with the help of many in their social network, raised funds to further construction of the church building. Currently, the Pfisters are committed to providing full educational, spiritual, and nutritional support for the students at Christian Hope School. They are working to broaden their support network in which monetary donations will directly fund tuition, meals, teacher salaries, and essential learning materials.
